MLB hall of famer Stan Musial died today at the age of 92.
Stan the Man was the first player in Cardinals franchise history to have his number, 6, retired. He won 7 National League batting titles, 3 MVP awards, and lead the Cardinals to 3 World Series wins. He ended his career with a batting average of .331 and 475 homeruns. He made the All-star game 24 times in his 22 years in the MLB. (The MLB held 2 All-star games a year for a while.) He never struck out more than 50 times in a single season. When he retired in 1963, he held 55 MLB records.
Without a doubt one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the league. He will be missed.
