Well there were several firings yesterday by NFL teams, so here's a rundown.
The Eagles fired head coach Any Reid after 14 years in Philadelphia and way too much talent to have done nothing with. Reid won 130 games with the Eagles, the most by any Eagles coach ever.
The Bears fired head coach Lovie Smith. The Bears have missed the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years. This season started promising, with a 7-1 record for Chicago, but things went sour, and they ended up finishing 10-6 and were booted out of the playoffs by the Vikings yesterday.
The Bills fired head coach Chan Gailey after 2 seasons with a 16-32 record.
The Chiefs fired head coach Romeo Crennel after a terrible 2-14 season. They decided to keep GM Scott Pioli for now, but a firing soon wouldn't surprise me.
The Jets fired their GM Mike Tannenbaum, and kept head coach Rex Ryan, despite rumors of Ryan's imminent dismissal. I think the Jets might have a little too much faith in Ryan, to be honest. I still wouldn't be surprised if he gets let go before next season.
According to a source, the Chargers will fire head coach Norv Turner and GM AJ Smith sometime today. After going 32-16 in his first 3 seasons in San Diego, he has gone 24-24 his last 3 years. I still remember hating Turner for no real reason every time Manning and the Colts took on the Chargers for the playoff spot. I still have some bitter feelings for Antonio Cromartie.
The Browns fired head coach Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert. Shurmur went 9-23 in his two seasons with Cleveland. Nick Saban, Chip Kelly, and Penn State coach Bill O'Brien are all supposedly on the Browns list of possible replacements.
I think most of the firings were warranted. The only ones that seems a little odd to me are the Turner and Smith firings. The Bears had a decent season, despite the disappointing finish. And Norv Turner, in my opinion (and as much as I hate him), is a pretty great coach, maybe one of the best in the league.
EDIT: The Cardinals fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt and GM Rod Graves. The Cardinals started the season 4-0, but finished 5-11. Whisenhunt led Arizona to the franchise's first Superbowl.
The Cardinals and Bears have both asked for permission to interview Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as a possible replacement for their vacant head coaching spot.
The Eagles fired head coach Any Reid after 14 years in Philadelphia and way too much talent to have done nothing with. Reid won 130 games with the Eagles, the most by any Eagles coach ever.
