Rolando McClain won't be released by the Oakland Raiders, like he hoped. That would be a reward.
Instead, the Raiders announced they have suspended the linebacker two games for conduct detrimental to the team. The news first was reported by Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer.
Raiders players told Glazer that McClain was informed of the news Friday morning. And the two-game suspension makes a lot of sense.
McClain reportedly got into an argument with Raiders coach Dennis Allen before being kicked out of practice Wednesday. The team told McClain to stay home Thursday, and he complied.
This has just been kind of sad. The Raiders are just unlucky with draft picks. If you remember, they wasted their 2007 first overall pick on JaMarcus Russell, who went on to be a total draft bust. Now this guy was their first round pick in 2010.
