Longtime NBA commissioner David Stern has announced that he will retire on February 1st, 2014, thirty years after he took the position. Stern is already the longest serving commissioner in the history of the NBA. Stern is 70 years old.

I'm glad he's finally stepping down I was never a fan of him as commissioner. Watch Game 6 2002 Western conference finals between the Kings and Lakers and tell me that game was not rigged. Even Tim Donaghy admitted to betting on the game and forcing the series to seven games. However, he did make the NBA global which was a positive, but he had too many rigged games slipped by in his tenure.

He has done a lot of bad for the league, but has also done a whole lot of good.... Yeah, but the bad definitely overshadows the good when talking about Stern.

It doesn't really matter whether he retires or not. This guy who is replacing him will be his puppet indefinitely.

Stern established the WNBA, guys. If that doesn't make him the greatest NBA commish of all time, I don't know what does.
