If you were in charge of the Nationals, would you shut down Steven Strasburg after 160 innings like their coach and GM says they are going to do?

I don't know. Honestly I don't think there's a wrong decision in this situation.
If they play him, he's at a higher risk of needing surgery during the off-season, and there's plenty of examples of pitchers losing some of their talent after surgeries.
On the other hand, this is their first playoff opportunity in quite a while. Who knows when they'll get it again? Having him pitch in the playoffs would be a huge help, and I could see them going pretty deep if they have him.
I don't think it's a bad idea to shut him down if that's what they're gonna do. Being safe in this situation is smart.

I think it's a bad idea to shut him down. I know they want him to stay healthy, but shutting him down could really hurt them. If he's not with them in the playoffs, I don't think they'll last very long. I'm not complaining, though. The Nationals are the NL favorites right now, and the Reds are a close 2nd. So I'm not against them losing their best pitcher.

There's no logic to shutting him down. I think they're best chance to win the World Series is this season. They have been unstoppable. Shutting down Stephen Strasburg just doesn't make sense. They're shutting him down so he can have a long career bringing them success, but him having a long career doesn't really matter too much to them if they don't any World Series titles to show for it. They need to go all in while they have the chance.
