2012 Home Run Derby
Prince Fielder just won the 2012 Home Run Derby. He also won the Home Run Derby in 2009. The American League dominated. The second round had three players representing the American League and one player representing the National League. The final round had two players representing the American league. Those two players were of course Prince Fielder, and Jose Bautista. Prince Fielder became the second player to win the Home Run Derby twice, with the other being Ken Griffey Jr. Prince Fielder is the first to win the Home Run Derby for both the American and the National League though.

Robinson Cano did terrible trying to get the back-to-back wins. He was a favorite to win, too, I think.

Robinson Cano did terrible trying to get the back-to-back wins. He was a favorite to win, too, I think. His round was hilarious! I love how the crowd basically "booed him off stage." Their cheers grew louder as the outs count went higher, and Cano finished with a "goose egg" for homers.

The NL crushed the AL last night, 8-0, to win homefield advantage in the World Series. Pablo Sandoval had a 3-run triple in the 1st inning and fellow Giants teammate Melky Cabrera had a 2-run homer in the 4th.
No scoring happened after the 4th inning.

Justin Verlander started the game for the AL and let up 5 runs in the first inning, while also walking 2 batters. He pitched horribly and cost the AL homefield advantage in the World Series.

I knew they should have started David Price. That game will go down as one of the worst all-star games in MLB history. I only watched the bottom of the 9th as I wasn't home until then, but it sounds like I didn't miss anything.

It was pretty ridiculous that everyone, even the relievers, got some play time except for Adam Dunn.
I feel like there should be some kind of rule that makes sure everyone gets some play time in the All-Star Game.

Adam Dunn has had an okay first half of the season. He's third in home runs in the MLB so far. I still don't think he had an all-star worthy first half though, as he has a .208 batting average even with those 25 home runs. He's also been known to be an awful fielder in the past.

He's a DH so his fielding doesn't matter. And you can't comment on his .208 average when his OBP is over .370 and he leads the AL in walks.

Either way, that doesn't change the fact that he should have gotten some play time.

Sure, his OBP is good, but look at his strikeouts. 134 already this year, and he's projected to have around 255. That's not what an all-star does.

I can comment on whatever I want to. This is supposed to be a free country. I know he's a designated hitter now, but he used to be criticized a lot for his lack of effort in fielding. Anyways, as Ozzie said about the strikeouts, he also leads the MLB in that statistical category. He's not all-star worthy if he's leading the league in strikeouts and has a .208 batting average. Walks don't show on a batting average, but the strikeouts do. In conclusion, Adam Dunn is an average player who goes up to the plate and swings for the fences every at bat he gets.
