So, I saw you guys did this with basket ball. I've done the exact same thing before on a different forum, except I did it with hockey. So, if you could use any player from the NHL (past or present) who would you use to make your dream team? (I decided to make the full 21 man roster but you can just make a first line, one defencive pairing, and one goalie if you wish.)
Line 1: Alexander Ovechkin - Wayne Gretzky - Maurice "Rocket" Richard Line 2: Luc Robitaille - Henri "Pocket Rocket" Richard - Yvon Cornouyer Line 3: Bob Gainey - Steve "Stevie Y" Yzerman - Gordie Howe Line 4: Frank Mahovlich - Mike Modano - Jarome Iginla
Defensive Pairing 1: Bobby Orr - Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion Defensive Pairing 2: Raymond Borque - Al Macinnis Defensive Pairing 3: Bobby Baun - Larry "Big Bird" Robinson Defensive Spare: Paul Coffey
Goalie 1: Patrick Roy Goalie 2: Martin Brodeur

No Dats, but you include Ovi? Dats is the best Russian EVER. Also, Modano over Mairo? Iginla? No Lidstrom?
Line1:Mario, Howe, Wayne Line2:Francis, Brett Hull, Sakic Line3:Ovi, Dats, Crosby Line4:Messier, Yzerman, Jagr
D1:Orr, Lidstrom D2:Macinnis, Coffey D3:Borque, Robinson
G1:Sawchuk G2:Broduer

I've never liked Datzyuk, I've never pictured him as outstanding. =/ I like Lidstrom but as far as I'm concerned it came down to him and Coffey and I chose Coffey. If you don't think Iginla is one of the best of all times you haven't watched the Flames enough. Mario never even crossed my mind tbh. >_<

7xNorris winner to a 3time winner, easy pick imo. If Dats isn't outstanding then what is? Arguably the best 2way player ever, I've never seen highlights where a player can pick the pocket and turn around and score like he does on the same play. Iggy is like Cujo, good players but no Cup. That separates the good from the great. I have no reason to watch the Flames, the Wings would put them out anyday when it counts.

Please, lets compare Datsyuk's and Iginla's stats.
Datsyuk has 662 GP, with 221 goals and 430 assists, to total 651 points. Iginla has 1106 GP, with 484 goals and 522 assists, to total 1006 points.
As for no cup? Iginla got cheated out of one in 04 by bad video review, but I'm not going to dwell on that. See you in the playoffs next year... Or maybe not. The Wings are washed up.

Stats might be better, but playing with a team like Detroit with depth for most of your career it isn't about one guy. The wealth is spread around. Outside of first team, Iggy has NO major league awards since 2004. Dats has won 7 in that same time. Dats has 2Cups in 3trys, Iggy 0/1.
I doubt the Wings miss the playoffs, don't except a conference finals appearance but they make it. 20years in a row in the playoffs.
