What teams do you think are part of the biggest rivalry in the NHL?
For me it's got to be the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens. These two teams have been going at it since the original six teams were formed. In recent years the rivalry has become more intense with several regular meetings, as well as playoff meetings. I'm hoping they meet again in the first round of the playoffs this season, or maybe the Eastern Conference finals.

How can it not be the Flames and Oilers rivalry. Heck, it's even known as the Battle of Alberta. It's very heated with lots of great fights throughout all the games. Nothing beats going into Rexall Place and cheering louder than the Oiler fans. The Edmontonians are the Calgarians, and vice verca.

BoA has taken a bit of a hit, cuz it's lost a lot of the passion with the players, imo. Or maybe it's because it's now a one-sided series.... hopefully after our rebuild the fire gets lit between the 2 teams that'd be great.
If they meet in the playoffs I'll say the current biggest rivalry is Canucks VS Blackhawks mostly in playoffs.

Seems it will be the Thrashers..... As son as Bettman is gone. He won't move any teams to Canada.

lol how about Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche VS Winnipeg Jets/Phoenix Coyotes?
I think Bettman will be left with no choice but to move the Coyotes to Canada. And Winnipeg is ready for a NHL team. BTW the mayor of Glendale already has a plan B if hulsizer can't buy the Yotes: get an AHL team. Simple swap, Moose for Coyotes - everybody is happy.

God, I do hope the 'Yotes move. Arizona is not a hockey market. The only people that go to games there are vacationing Canadians, or retired Canadians. Same with Atlanta really, hockey doesn't belong in Georgia.

Atlanta is a bigger f*ckup because they already tried it before and it didn't work.... With Phoenix/Glendale well it's pretty obvious it wouldn't work. Hockey and warm weather, sand, tourists, and American baseball/basketball/football fans don't mix.
I think with the recent Chara incident the Habs-B's rivalry will get lit up again. Unfortunately, the tiny Habs can't fight...
