Why is there so many footballs? there are a few!. The fun starts when you standardise things, if you say that one game is one thing then every other game has to be called something else. rugby was created from football(soccer) when william web-ellis decided to picked up the ball from kick off at a game at Rugby school and run with it! the above event probably never took place, but that the story. the history of sport is an interesting one, 'american' football came more from rugby, as did Aussie rules that is played on an oval pitch, and is great to watch.Rugby itself has two codes, League and Union. mind you if you want history then Shinty is your game! but that's another story. re football, Do you or have you ever called it Grid-Iron?

Grid-Iron in American Football? Yes... So, we copied Rugby, which copied Football/Soccer. So, we basically copied 2 big sports.

I bought one at a yard sale a few years ago for $5, plus it came with a load of games, But it didn't work.
I eventually sold the games to someone for $10, so I ended up making $5.

European Football was actually played in the United States in Harvard before American Football came around. Plus it makes more sense to call it football than soccer.
